Today was a mixture of emotions, I felt knackered, excited and wet.
We woke up to sunshine after a night of thunderstorms which we thanked god for. We had rösti and eggs for breakfast and set off for Lucerne. We were riding at 30km/h for 5km but were then greeted by a mountain which we knew was going to be there, what we didn't know was that it was a 500m climb!! We had at break at every breakdown bay (almost every 200m). We finally reached a café 50m from the top and we had a coffee, a hot chocolate and a Coke. We talked to a Belgian man who planed to do the eurovelo6 in August. We then went to the summit and had a loaf of bread with jam for lunch.
Finally, we had a downhill, we averaged 50 km/h all the way down but when we got to the bottom we noticed that there were rain clouds in the distance. We continued around a flat path for a few kilometers but then it started to rain... We pulled our raincoats out, I pulled out my helmet cover and my shoe covers, dad said "You idiot". Nek minnet he pulls his out as well:) We rode in the rain through a lovely passage which was lovely and I would love to ride there again.
We rode for what seemed an eternity, we even rode across 2 runways where there were military choppers flying and armed guards walking around. Dad was gobsmacked and could barely talk. He was just repeating "That's bizarre!". We finally arrived at Lucerne after 70km. But Lucerne was not at all what we were expecting. Mum you would love it!! There was art and family tree murals on almost every wall. The river running from the lake was crystal clear and you could see the bottom even though it was 5m+ deep. We had Italian for dinner (we've had trouble finding a national dish other then fondue!).
Hope to here from you soon, will try to keep you updated daily, but don't freak out if it takes more then 2 days mum ;)

Certainly did!
Some pics of Lucerne
These bowed beams are about 15m long, no joins. Lachlan is tired of me talking about timber structures.

You know the grammar and punctuation mistakes are killing me but if I say anything you'll lecture me and I'd rather have something to read every morning rather than you deciding not to do a blog entry as you're too tired and don't want to make any mistakes! It's holidays in 3 day's so I'll let it go soon ...... probs not ;) Loving the pics, Lucerne reminds me a little of Innsbruck and you know how I loved it there! It's a shame you got caught in the rain but it all adds to the experience and makes you appreciate simple pleasures like ceiling fans right? I do wish I was with you .... on a vespa ;) I do like it when you write Lachlan, don't go longer than 3 x days without an entry. Oh, and guess what we found out the other day? Mrs Rodriguez was Ed Murphy's Maths teacher at Loyola - there's hope for you yet!!! Love you! Mum xx
Well done Lockie, your adventure looks too good to be true.and the pic's are fantastic.
The timber bridge etc. at Lucerne are pretty cool, I also love old timber structures .
Love to you both, Stay Safe and no more falling off your bike.
Ed and I are reminiscing about our time in Switzerland, in particular Lucerne and Mount Pilatus. Sorry to hear about the rain. Thought it would rain here today but we just got cloud cover making it a bit easier to walk around. Enjoy your journey. Lots of love Kylie xoxoxo
I would have loved to have seen those choppers, sounds cools mgee. Not to brag though, we saw a couple of fighter jets and choppers pass our hotel in Singapore. Have a good time and break a leg!
