Brigerbad to Oberwald

PAUL

We knew we had a 800m climb today. So we were prepared for it! Suisse Route 1 soon laughed at us! We ignored a recommendation to take a train to the other side.
We then came to this sign......

Maybe we should have!!!! This route took us in a scenic route with only half a pack of chips to share. 90 minutes later we met civilisation again. We did run into a couple of other cyclists who were coming the other way. The scenery was great though so the hard work was worth it.

We stopped at a restaraunt in the middle of nowhere and had a great lunch. Main meal for the day.

The second part of the trip was just as difficult. Uphill with a headwind. We made it to Orberwald campground at 1700 hrs, setup our camp, had soup and noodles for dinner.
BTW. Our breakfasts have been good. Normally eggs, this morning we had spek (bacon of sorts) and eggs. We had the fat from the spek to have our first fried eggs, yummo!

A young dear is near our  campground. We cannot see its mother. There are thick black cllouds over the mountain we are to climb tomorrow. Most days have been good in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon.

Saturday Morning. Lachlan has indicated that he is hungry. Man cannot live on soup alone. I told him we had noodles as well as bread!
The weather is clear and we are just waiting for the sun to come over the ridge to help dry the tent. Hope you are al well.
Enjoy your holidays Georgia.

G and I intend to celebrate her excellent achievements thus far with a bottle of Verve tonight. I don't think you're completely aware of all the goals she's kicked this term but you'll be super proud when she details it all for you upon your return. Lachlan has done well too but it's not 'official' yet :)have to wait until report is published for the details. Love you and keep climbing! Btw, does L have calf muscles yet? ;) xx

Lachlan where are you? Started strong and faded quickly. Maybe you are building the calf muscles your mother would like to see ... or is dad taking control of the internet access? As for your school report - I'd like to see them grade the things you've learned while you've been away :)

His legs are getting bigger! He has quads. Wait until the next blog. He doesn't like blogging but will do some. He is reading epic Facebook breakup fails at the moment. Go figure. But he can tell me about most cars that pass us, along with the details of the quartz crystals found in the rocks and the details of the rocks that have formed in their various layers whilst we ride by. Not all is lost.

Mr Culican would be impressed! Thanks for asking 'where is Lachlan?' Brad, he gets 4 weeks off school and thinks he doesn't have to maintain his awesome writing skills ;)
