We had to park our bikes in an unusual spot (for Australians anyway) overnight the hotel receptionist told us to park at the railway station, it was safe. We were very unsure about this. 50m down the road was a parking area for velo and motos. We locked both bike together and hoped we would see them in the morning. Most corners in Lucerne had these and some bikes weren't secured to an immovable object and some not locked at all!
This is our spot,
It rained for most of the night and most of the morning. Because it was a short day we left the hotel late. We rode around the city and had morning tea at a coffee and cake shop. The strawberry tart I had was good and Lachlan was unsure of his apple tart.
We made our way in heavy rain along the Swiss velo 9,4 route through a forest along the Rhone. The river coming out of Lucerne as Lachlan indicated was crystal clear. Another river flowing into it was filthy and for a long distance the river flowed in two colours. Soon after the colours merged to brown. The attraction of the waterway diminished. We rode for about an hour and came across a caravan in a freeway parking area selling food. Fortunately they took euros as that is all we had.
The rain stopped not long after this and we were able to ride a little freer. It tracks and roads were undulating. I think will be the same for the rest of the trip.
We went through some scenic paths and areas. Sometimes the cycle ways can take you away from the towns but today's routes kept us in towns. We did take a wrong turn that added to our distance today. We knew this would happen from time to time.
We arrived in Zurich on a cycle way that took,us along the river for about 25kms. After Lachlan's fall on gravel he is a little cautious. I'll ride that out of him I hope.
The hotel has been done up recently. It is very nice. The neighbourhood isn't as nice. Slight to high red light. The building across from us is erotica 0500-0400 daily.
Had nice Thai for dinner. We left and looked for ice cream but none was found. Back in the room looking at soccer. The rides take it out of us, so walking for ages is not always easy to do. The part of Zurich we are in is not as picturesque as Lucerne. Only a few photos.
Stay safe, we are.
I lichen the walls of this passage to Kristy's photos at Triberg.

Nice to know some parts of Europe are relatively safe and educational!Rest your weary legs - we empathise.
Love Kylie and Ed xoxoxoxo
You lichen it to Triberg hey? So funny! I would hate to be riding hours in the rain, glad you're keeping positive about it! At your current rate you're going to get to Vienna earlier than planned. Got any ideas about what you might do/see if you do??
Keep pumping them there legs.
