An early start, 7.00 proved prudent for us both. We arrived at the Aiguillie Du Midi cable car station with only 50 people in front of us. We arrived at the top of Mont Blanc with good visibility. The first stage cable car travels at 30 km/h and stage two at 45 km/h. At 3800m the air is thin, really!
A glass floor has been installed which allows you to stand on a glass platform, with special slippers, 1000m above terra-firma. The photos don't do it justice.
Disappointingly the 1300m luge is close until 21June.
Just when we thought our rest day would be restful we took the cog train to a 900m ascent to the glacier. We walked through a crystal cave then saw that we could go to an ice cave. We did not realise that they had put in a cable car, dummies and walked down a track for about 1500m to the base of the cable car and then 477 steps to the cave. We caught the cable car after we walked the 477 steps back up.
The glacier took out a part of village in the early C17th. A Catholic Bishop form Geneva performed an exorcism on the glacier and ever since the glacier has been receding, fancy that (see photo)!
Where we got to.

A rest day you say? Sounds exhausting, all those stairs. The photo out on the glass platform looks awesome, glad you did It because there's no way, on God's earth, would I step out there! No way! The jackets are a contrast to a few days ago, bit chilly up there on Mt Blanc?? Kylie and Ed are slumming it in Dubai, you should see the hotel!! Thanks for the update! xx
*Singapore, not Dubai! Getting my world travellers confused! Maybe I need a holiday too! :/
Yes I agree with Kristy, I feel exhausted reading your Blog. I also would not stand on the glass and with what looks like Slippers.
I suppose you will both come back as skinny as a Rake. Glad you are enjoying such a wonderful experience. Love Mum xx
