16 June Chamonix-Sion

Lachlan
Today was an interesting day and my legs had different feelings all the way through! Today started off with going to a lovey cafè and having a hot chocolate and Dad, a cappuccino. We also had an praline brioche and an apple pastry.
We headed off in thick fog and our legs sore. It's amazing that one day off the bike can have such a large effect on how they work. So, we soldiered on and while claiming a hill 20m less the the Col De Avaris, we saw a mountain ibexe (similiar to a mountain goat). We also met a Sydney couple who had been driving around Europe and had a few weeks left on their journey. It's nice to meet people that can speak  the same language you do!
We then descended a large hill, and passed the French-Swiss border. Dad had a flat white at a café and we got back on the bike again. We then ascended and arrived at town called Finhaut. There we had a semi-panini and were told how to get to some sub-terrainian lakes at St-Leonard. We then hopped onto a gravel trail which descended a few hundred metres with no guard rails to protect us if we fell. My back wheel swished around a bit but we finally got to the bottom and were greated with another downhill, all the way to Martigny.
We then headed off riding by the Rhine towards a camping site west of Sion. Dinner was lovely, pre packaged Aldi (L'Dil) meal and the swim in the pool, was rather cold.
Hope you all have a lovely time and stay frosty;)

Photo Wall.

The French provided a cyclist only tunnel. While we were in there only 10-15 cars passed outside.

Looking back to Mont Blac

Lachlans Ibex licking a wall.

The Suisse Border. This was a 6km descent. We were glad we put on our jumpers after out 300m ascent. Today we ascended 1500m and descended 2200m. You have to get a win every now and then.

Reading the material provided by the restaraunter who took twenty minutes to make two anti-panini sandwiches.

Whe thought Hoover flies were cute until Finhaut. They are as pesky as house flies, hinders of them.

On the spectrum?

Mary mum would like.

Start of the cycle way from Martigny to Sion. 11-30* today. Lachlan has a tan!

Stone walled pathways and watercourses lead up to the farms on sloping and very steep grades.

Greetings Paul and Lachlan, we look forward to seeing more of your photos and hearing some more stories. The scenery looks amazing. You will both need a few hours of body massages at the end of your trip.
We are leaving Singapore for Barcelona tonight. Hopefully we will catch you on skype.
Lachlan i will try to get Mitchell to post some stuff on our blog. He was the photographer of the beautiful breakfast eggs.
Stay safe. Love kylie

Finally a post!
Been wondering whether you're still alive? Glad to see you are! A praline brioche - yum! Oh how I miss breakfasts in Europe! G and I miss you Lachlan, it's a lot quieter with not as much laughter around here!
I told Beau to tuck his shirt in, while on playground duty yesterday and he randomly announces that "Lachlan is so cool!!" ????? I said you weren't. Corey B asked how you were enjoying the ride as well as Mr Stretton, Mr Ross, Ms Robb, Miss Gover, Mr Monaghan and several others. Mr C said other kids are starting to answer more Q's in Geo without you there... I guess this is a good thing, he also added that you are missed in class :)
Missing Dad too but I'll save that for the next comment :)
Love you, Mum xx
