13 June. Black Friday. D'Albertville to Saint Jean the Sixt

PAUL

We made the mistake of taking it too easy this morning! The route we took based on Garmin and Google were putting us on the freeway. We went back to the tourist office who gave us some maps and off we set at midday.

We only went 47 km today. When we arrived at St Jean the tourist lady said the weather may turn bad, and thinking about Daniel Avery (K&G know), I decided we should stay.

The ride today took us up a good  hill mountain with a short ride providing a climb from 438m to 979m. As tomorrow's ride ascends from 979m to 1486m the climb to the Col des Aravis, a route taken a dozen times in Le Tour, 5% climb over 10kms, we need to get an early start.
The air should be thin at that height :).

We have already booked accommodation for Sat night so I suppose we need to get there :~

I think you might be able to tell that the days are hard when little is said. Even less photos.

Base of first climb.

Two thirds up.

A link to a little "From Our Window" video

Au revoir.

'The air could be a bit thin' - sledging me on a blog?? How's your form?! I think it's time to 'do an Elsa'??? So you don't want to die on the French Pyrennes like Daniel in 'The Way' - isn't it Summer over there??? Hope you make it to the accommodation, you are picking places with 'free cancellation' right? Just in case you don't get there? I guess this climb will be a test for the Swiss Alps - good luck! Not envious of this part of your trip, I hope the feeling of accomplishment exceeds the pain! Love you xx

Totally jealous guys! Kristy sent me the link Thursday and I have now caught up with your travels over a cup of coffee. No riding for me today, it's raining in Sydney. Looking forward to more posts and photos.
Enjoy.

Don't worry about the thin air and anything we say we are fatigued. No rain as yet ( wait for next post;) ) just legs up and down. Although when the sun is beating down on your neck because your out of the saddle you see the ever used shadow image of a cyclist in Le Tour of the front wheel and head. Chook it only takes a couple of minutes to type, the photos are difficult
