Ingoldstadt to Regensburg

PAUL

We left our campsite late due to a conversation with a Dutchman about the ride ahead, and how he was to meet people he rode with three years earlier.

This part of the ride, took us through heavy Bavarian Forrest which was quite cool compared to the open track. We kept very close to the river which in some parts is over 100 m wide. The river is broken up by dams that serve as hydro electric plants or flood mitigation. Many have locks for vessel movement.

We met an English father and son who were riding Ingoldstadt to Vienna. They had special shirts made. Dad was about 70. They were heading back to Lyon after their ride to catch Le Tour through the Alps.

We made it to Weltenburg which is the site of a Bendedictine monastry and church, that was dedicated to St Georg. A large statue sits behind the altar. The church was very ornate, gold leaf and great paintings adorned the wall.

A ferry took us to Kelheim. As it was only 2 pm we decided to come to Regensburg. Had some fruit filled our bottles, booked accommodation and left. We left the Germans we met at Donauworth and rode the track has changed with a few cliffs and crags that beetle overhead. Much more interesting than farmland.

We made it tomour accommodation just after 6pm, 99.5 km later.
We cracked the ton when we went in to the CBD for dinner. We were both very tired so getting lost on the way home didn't help.

Another day, another town.

Stay safe, we are.
