We got away at 900 this morning, the morning was hot. We only rode 4 km when I saw on top of the hill near us, a monument that turned out to be 'Walhalla' a Nordic monument to slain heroes.
There were great sculptures around the room and tiled patterns on the floor. We only got to go into a part of the structure. There were many more under floor sections we couldn't get in to.
It had a great view of the delta, see https://www.dropbox.com/s/y82qrzzfagrjep8/Photo%204-07-2014%2010%2024%2020.jpg
The ride then followed the river. We intended to visit a fun park near Straubing, but the +35 degree heat zapped way to much energy to even think of an extra 20k's one way.
We stopped for lunch at a restaraunt in Kobnach. It turned out the Lebanese owner lived in Liverpool, Campbeltown and Newcastle for 3 years. Had a good twenty minute talk. You dont realise when you drive, that twenty minutes would mean so much. But when you travel at 20km/h that is 6.5km and you have to work for it!!!
More hot, head wind riding after lunch. Can't complain only the second headwind, the other was cool/cold though. We booked accommodation when we got to Straubing and went to the hotel. We had dinner and watched Germany beat France. Many happy Germans.
Stay safe. We are!
