Wrap up!!

Hi it's Lachlan,

We finished our ride on the 5th of october at our nan and pops house in Gaven.

That day i didn't feel tired at all even after after we climbed 3 huge hills.

I feel very good about my self for accomplishing a 460km bike ride and the only day I was tired was when we rode in to a 25km head wind.

When we got to surfers we stayed at a nice hotel called the surfers chalet we were lucky because we got the very last room available!!!

Surfers to Nerang

Surfers to Nerang

Georgia's Wrap Up;
This ride has been an awesome experience; something that most people haven't done. While it was tiring and a smidge bit painful it was really fun and enjoyabe. Some of the fun events are: sleeping together in a small tent, going to the Sushi Train at Surfers, having a really great time at Time Zone with Super nanny & pop and eating on the side of the road with our metho cooker. This ride is somthing I'll never forget and hopefully w'll do something like this again.

Chindara to Surfers Paradise

Today was an easy day at least we thought.
We left about 10.30 and headed north. 30+ degrees made it hard. A  few small hills and a head wind made it tougher going.
The boardwalk was good to ride on good veiw and a breeze to cool us down.
400km behind us.
Tonight the kids reward, Sushi Train and timezone. Kids easily pleased.
Tomorrow a quick 14km to Nerang and another pool.
Thanks for following, words of encouragem, ent appreciated. The kids will write again to complete their ride.

Byron to Chindera (Kingscliff)

G'Day All,
We left Byron at 8.30 and began our ride. The north coast has some good cycle ways along the road.
We got to Brunswick head s pretty qick then went on to Yelgun/Tugun(?) for lunch at the Humble Pie.
The ride was hot to Wooyung
then we rode iinto a 25km hour wind for 28km to Chinndera
I have no navigational update today. The computer does not have USB input.
We are all knackered after todays ride but it was good. Some good scenery  to keep us going.
The pool at the caravan park was coolish but still enjoyable.
We are off to the pub for dinner.
Update for the last (ish) leg tomorrow.
Have a good night. Speak to all soon.

Lismore to Byron

We have arrived at Byron and 299km behind us. It is estimated that we have another 100 km but that could change
We have done a few extra km's due to missed turns and smaller issues.
Legs and bums are a little sore although we are riding around Byron today to look at a few things
We have had a few cookups on side of the road and the metho cooker has been good for pasta and rice dishes for lunch.
Dinners have been steak or sausages with salad and pasta, although we did have potato gems Tues night.
Treats have been lollies during rides along with chips at night.

Spoken to many other tourist who are travelling vagabond style who think we are crazy.
Weather has been good without any rain to date and it looks good for the remaining days.

See you all soon.

Coffs To QLD by Locky

Get ready for the ride of your life, If you can handle 400! km.

The feat that we are about to accomplish is a ride from Coffs harbour to Queensland .

So far we've been riding 4 days NON-STOP today we are having a rest day after riding 299 km's.

I'm feeling great about accomplishing this unforgettable ride of my life.

Our first ride was the longest ride of my life(So Far)it was a total of 98 km and also the hilliest with atotal climb of 1,140m.My legs felt like jello and my face looked like a betroot(We got that from a man at the railway station.

So far my legs are fine except after we've finished the ride of the day. I'm really looking forward to going to Surfers Paridise and Super- nanny and Pop.

Bike ride to QLD by Georgia

Want to come on a bike ride from Coff's Harbour to Nerang in Queensland with me?

Maybe, Maybe not. But I have almost have accomplished this and are looking forward  to the next few days. Dad, Lachlan and I have been riding for, four days straight and there hane been good times and bad times. For example a good time would be staying in a Cabin and seeing the amazing veiws of the Country , the lively Cities and the Harbour side. Each one has their own beauty you could say. I t has been really awesome seeing the different towns and comparing it to how we live. One of the bad times would be adding an extra 10km to our ride from Lismore to Byron Bay. Though it really wasn't that bad so technically there were no bad bits of the ride. My favourite part of the ride  would be Ellangowan State Forest to Lismore. I have really enjoyed the ride so far and hopefully I'll have even more fun in the next few days.

Grafton to Ellangowan State Forest

G'Day All
72 k's today the kids did well
A few hills and a cookup on the side of the road.
Lachlan stopped on some loose gravel and I came off braking to avoid him at about 25k's. A few scratches, the kids laughed at me falling off for the first time! Nerds!
We left Grafton late due to Blog update.
Got to the state forest about 5 and shared to area with another 4 campers, one rooster and many birds.
Photos on next update
Nearly got onto the local paper at Grafton but the person in the cafe could not get any one down from the paper. Next town. Everyone we speak to is impressed with the effort of the kids as I am.
A few complaints when we rounded the corner to see another hill. They still made it although slow. Excellent job.

Day 1 Coffs to Grafton

Day One of the Cycling epic saw a sizable climb from Coffs to Nana Glen.
I underestimated the travel distance, and although I did not start my computer at the park when we left Lachlan did and we rode a total of 98km. A monumental effort from the kids.
Georgia fell over the night before and cut her knee.
When you look at the photo on the Nana Glen sign look at her face closely. Her chain fell off and when she put her chain back on she got grease on her hands and rubbed her face for the next 5k's.
Lachlan also fell over at the same spot in the caravan park and cut his hand. Boofheads!!!
Stayed at the caravan park in Grafton and are riding to and staying at Ellangowan state forest tonight, the only non-town stop.

Tuesday night will be the next post. Speak then

Route to Queensland

View Coffs Harbour to Qld in a larger map">
G'Day All I've just completed the mapping of the trip to Qld with Georgia and Lachlan.
I drove up and found a few spots too dangerous to ride even by myself, so I have come up with a better route
There are some limitations with Google maps so there will be some minor changes en-route.

Blackman cycles at Parramatta http://blackmanbicycles.com.au/ loaned Lachlan a bike for the ride. Should improve his speed for the trip and Georgia has also improved on hill climbs
